About our Club...

The Gateway Havanese Club was organized October 26th, 2003. We were approved by the Havanese Club of America August 2004 and are proud to be an HCA local club. We have approximately 30 members who are breeders, exhibitors trainers and owners of Havanese andother beloved pets-- Mastiffs, Labrador Retrievers, Bichon Frises, German Shepherds, and our own special blends just to name a few. Our purpose as an organization is to promote the purebred dog fancy. We plan to hold supported entries several times a year at the Surrounding shows. We also plan to sponsor AKC sponsored matches and possibly hold obedience, rally obedience, and possibly conformation classes.

Objectives of the Club

- To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Havanese
and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection;

- To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed approved
by The American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which
Havanese shall be judged;

- To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to
encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials and agility events;

Persons interested in attending a meeting or joining the Club should contact our Membership Commitee (Chris Flessner) by sending an e-mail to: Chris@local703.org to request specific directions to the next meeting site.
